Breathwork
I first tried breathwork in 2019. At the time, I had been suffering from a two year long knee issue that had been virtually unaffected by any form of physical therapy. I heard about something called Holotropic Breathwork in this podcast episode and was immediately intrigued. In the podcast, the interviewee claimed that by breathing in a deep and rapid fashion for extended periods of time, one could enter into a cathartic state, similar to what might be experienced in a psychedelic assisted therapy session. In my first breathwork session, I cried more than I ever had in my entire life, and felt a massive increase, and then decrease, in muscular tension in my legs. In ensuing days, I realized that my knee issue was gone. It never came back.
Shortly thereafter, I learned how to facilitate breathwork and have been guiding sessions ever since.

“Every time I leave a breathwork session with Sam, I think to myself, "This is exactly what I needed!" Before trying breathwork I wasn't convinced I would find it helpful but I've now made it a semi-regular component of my self care routine. I have found it to be surprisingly healing and Sam is excellent at creating a space that feels both compassionate and constructive. If you're new to breathwork or looking for a new practitioner, I highly recommend working with him.”
